Hungary calls tender for frequencies in 26 GHz band

Analysis

Hungary’s National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) on Friday announced a tender for frequencies in the 26 GHz band.

NMHH is offering the frequencies in the band to boost the efficiency with which frequency capacity is used, to give an incentive for network developments among service providers, to encourage competition on the mobile telecommunications market, to improve the quality of services and to protect the interests of subscribers. The NMHH also wants to support an auction underway of bands in the 900 MHz band with the sale.

NMHH is offering 26 blocks in the 26 GHz band, suitable for 3G and 4G mobile services.

Interested parties must register by February 6, 2012. The procedure will be closed on March 14, 2012.

The frequency licenses are for 15 years.
