Hungary broadband subscription rates drop
The average retail price for the most popular type of broadband internet subscription in Hungary fell 40% between H1 2005 and H2 2007, while the number of subscribers doubled.
NHH published its regulated wholesale prices for the sixth time since the introduction of its “retail minus” system in 2006. Under the system, wholesale prices are calculated based on retail prices. NHH published wholesale prices for DSL broadband services for the first time.
NHH head Dániel Pataki said the new wholesale prices will continue to boost competition among providers.
The number of broadband internet subscriptions rose one-third to 1,325,000 in 2007, NHH figures show. ADSL subscriptions grew 21.5% to 745,000, while cable internet subscriptions increased 53% to 580,000 in 2007. (MTI – Econews)
