Hungary broadband DSL, cable and optical internet subscriptions up 14,000 in August

The number of broadband DSL, cable and optical internet subscriptions in Hungary reached 2.006m in August, up 14,000 from the previous month, a fresh report by Hungary's National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) shows.

The number of DSL subscriptions, which use conventional fixed line technology, was 796,000 in August, up 1,000 from the previous month. The number of cable subscriptions climbed 8,000 to 791,000 and the number of FTTH and FTTB subscriptions, which use optical technology, increased 4,000 to 242,000.

Magyar Telekom controlled 34.7% of the market in August. UPC was runner-up with a 20.9% market share and DIGI was in third with 12.2%.
