Huge salary gaps persist in Hungary
Average pay in Hungary's best-paid professions is about two-and-a-half times that in the worst-paid professions, a ratio about the same in the neighboring countries.
The survey by Merces showed that workers in Hungary's healthcare sector are among the worst-paid professionals, taking home a gross monthly Ft 157,000. Hungary's highest-paid professionals work in the IT, pharmaceutical, bank and investment consulting sectors, earning a gross monthly Ft 281,000-351,000.Merces noted that wages in the Czech Republic were higher than in Hungary and Slovakia. It also found that, because of Hungary's high taxes, net wages in the same sectors were 30% higher in Slovakia and 60% higher in the Czech Republic. (MTI – Econews)
