Gov't to rename National Motorway, give successor more responsibilities

The government will rename the National Motorway (NA) Zrt and expand its activities from the start of 2007, NA chairman-CEO Kálmán Remenyik said on Wednesday.
The activities of the company, renamed National Infrastructure Development (NIF), will include all EU-funded road, railway and civil engineering projects, resulting in cost savings of Ft 150 billion – Ft 180 billion alone in 2007, Remenyik said.
NIF will carry out road and railway developments worth Ft 2,200-2,300 billion during the 2007-2013 EU budgetary period. EU funding could make up Ft 1,600 billion of this amount. The company will build or renovate 2,000-2,500 kilometers of road and railways. (Mti-Eco)
