GfK consumer confidence index climbs in Q2

GfK Hungária's consumer confidence index rose 6 points to 160.8 in the second quarter, the market researcher said on Wednesday. The percentage of households who were optimistic about the short-term outlook for the economy as a whole rose from 24% to 28% during the period. The percentage who said the country's economic position was better at present than a year ago climbed from 20% to 27%. The percentage of households who believe unemployment is on the rise fell from 45% to 39%. The percentage who think inflation will slow rose from 51% to 55%. About 30% of households say now is a bad time to borrow, compared to one-quarter three months earlier.
