German chamber sees business environment as slightly better

Hungary's assessment improved slightly according to this year's business confidence report of the German-Hungarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DUIHK) as the country moved to 10th place from 13th on a list of 20 regional countries, it was announced at a press conference presenting the report on Wednesday. State secretary of the National Economy Ministry Zoltán Cséfalvay said at the briefing that Hungary has already put the conditions for a healthy growth in place, and it was a shared interest of the two countries that businesses operating in Hungary should experience as good an economic environment as possible. Dirk Wolfer, head of communications at DUIHK said that Hungary made a “small step on a long road,” and the companies involved in the survey primarily criticized the lack of predictability. The survey shows that although investors were slightly more positive concerning Hungary's economic situation than a year earlier, half of the interviewees still considered the position and outlook of the Hungarian economy as bad. One-third of interviewees said they expected economic conditions to worsen compared to this year.
