Forint strengthens on Bernanke speech

Analysis

The forint strengthened against the Swiss franc, the euro and the US dollar following US Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke's speech at 4:00, Central European Time, on Friday.

The forint traded at 233.69 to the Swiss franc at 5:45 p.m. on Friday, compared to a rate of 238.55 shortly before the Federal Reserve chairman announced that the United States central-banking system is prepared to use the tools at its disposal to spur growth in the country, and a rate of 237.79 at the same time on Thursday evening.

The forint traded at 271.78 to the euro and 187.81 to the US dollar at 5:45 p.m. on Friday, compared to rates of 272.80 and 188.92, respectively, shortly before Bernanke's speech and rates of 272.10 and 189.31, respectively, at the same time on Thursday evening.
