Estonian Retail Sales Fall Further in September

Estonian retail trade dropped by 6.7% year-on-year in September, after a 7.8% fall in the previous month, data from the Tallinn-based Statistics Estonia (SE) show.

This was the 13th straight month of contraction in retail activity.

Among stores selling manufactured goods, the decline in turnover was 14% in stores selling textiles, clothing & footwear; other non-specialized stores selling predominantly manufactured goods (-14%); household goods and appliances, hardware and building materials (-12%); second-hand goods and non-store retail sale (-5%); computers and their accessories, books, sports equipment, games, toys, etc. (-4%), and pharmacies and cosmetics (-1%).

On a monthly basis, retail trade shrank 4.7% in September, the first decline in three months, reversing from a 1% growth in August.
