Competition Office approves RTL Group acquisition of stake in owner of RTL Klub operator

Hungary’s Competition Office (GVH) on Monday said it approved RTL Group Central and Eastern Europe’s purchase of a controlling stake in media company IKO Media Holding.
IKO Media Holding has ownership rights over Magyar RTL Televizio Zrt, which operates Hungarian commercial television station RTL Klub.
GVH did not disclose the size of the stake.
RTL Group announced its intention in July 2011 to raise its stake in RTL Klub to 98% through the purchase of an additional 31% of the Hungarian station’s shares, RTL Group and RTL Klub reported on their websites.
RTL Klub in July said that the RTL group would also purchase seven of its cable-television stations - Cool, Film+, Film+2, Sorozat+, Reflector, Prizma and Muzsika TV.
