City of Pécs welcomes Confucius Institute
The Confucius Institute was opened today in Pécs, southwestern Hungary, to assist in the promotion of traditional Chinese medicine at the local universityʼs health science department, Hungarian news agency MTI reported.
This is the first Confucius Institute in Hungary and the seventh in the world. The institute focuses on teaching and applying therapeutic methods rooted in Chinese medicine in combination with current academic methods, the news agency added.
Speaking at a press conference prior to the opening, deputy state secretary for higher education Zoltán Maruzsa said that Hungarian-Chinese cooperation in higher education was beneficial for both sides.
