The business confidence index of the Economic Research Institute (GVI) of the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MKIK) rose to +38 points in October from +28 points in April, a couple of points under its pre-crisis level, according to a report by state news wire MTI.
The gauge of confidence was the highest among companies in commerce, at +45 points. The measure stood at +42 points in the manufacturing sector, +40 points in the construction sector, and +30 points in the service sector.
Foreign-owned companies, exporters, and businesses with more than 250 people on payroll showed bigger improvements in sentiment.
GVI surveyed 2,214 businesses to compile the index.
