Austria Inflation Rate Picks up in August
The annual inflation rate in Austria increased to 7.4% in August, accelerating from a 16-month low of 7% in the previous month, Tradingeconomics.com reported citing data released by Statistics Austria.
Main upward pressure came from transport costs (0.2% vs -4.2% in July), while prices slowed for housing & utilities (10.1% vs 11%), food & non-alcoholic beverages (9.8% vs 10.5%), and restaurants & hotels (12% vs 12.3%).
On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged up to 0.3% in August from 0.1% rise in the previous month.
Meanwhile, the EU harmonized index grew 7.5% year-on-year and increased by 0.3% over the previous month.
