Advertising spending down 15.8% in 2020

Advertising spending in Hungary came to HUF 401.9 billion in 2020, down by 15.8% from a year earlier, the Hungarian Advertising Association (MRSZ) said, according to mandiner.hu.
Media advertising revenue amounted to HUF 240 bln, down by 2.8% from the previous year. The coronavirus pandemic had a strong negative impact on the entire communications industry last year, especially in the second quarter, head of the association János Gulyás said.
As in recent years, digital media accounted for the biggest portion, 44.7% of the total revenue, with television advertising taking second place with 26.7%, followed by the printed press with 15.4%. Digital media was the only segment to show even slight growth, at 5.5%, while advertising revenue fell in all other segments in 2020.
