Romanian average salary up in March
The average net salary in Romania was RON 1,617 (appr. €370) in March, up 4.1% compared to the last month, local media reported citing data released Monday by the National Institute of Statistics. The average net salary in March grew by 4.8% year-on year. There were reported salary increases in most industries mainly because of bonus payments offered by employers. These were either performance related bonuses or Easter bonus payments, according to the report. The highest salaries this March were reported in the tobacco industry where the average stood at RON 5,645 (€1.300). The industry reported an average 19.3% monthly salary increase, the largest reported across all sectors.
