Road haulage companies to pay risk deposits from March 11

Analysis

Haulage companies delivering hazardous products will be required to hold risk insurance as of March 11,unless they are listed on the register of the tax office NAV as having no back taxes or arrears on other public payment obligations, NAV said yesterday, according to news agency MTI.

The requirement is part of EKAER, a new electronic control system for road haulage companies. The system was launched after a two-month test period at the beginning of March. The risk insurance amounts to 15% of the value, including VAT, of the hazardous products, which were delivered in the preceding 45 days. The system is part of a crackdown on VAT fraud by road haulage companies.
