Report: New car registrations grow 12% in February

New passenger car registrations in Hungary rose 12.3% to 6,625 in February as compared to the same period a year earlier, the Hungarian Association of Vehicle Importers (MGE) said yesterday, citing sales figures compiled by DataHouse, Hungarian news agency MTI reported.

Sales of light commercial vehicles climbed 21.4% to 1,509, sales of heavy commercial vehicles fell 6.9% to 430, bus sales rose 120% to 66 and motorcycle sales increased 39% to 140 in February, as compared to the same month a year earlier, MTI said.

In the period of January-February, new vehicle registrations rose 13.1% year-on-year, reaching 12,193, MTI reported. Sales of light commercial vehicles were up 8.6% at 2,820, while bus sales rose 177% to 122 and motorcycle sales were up 16% to 200 in the period, as compared to the same period a year earlier.

MGE foresees new car sales reaching 80,000 by the end of this year and expects 18,000 new LCVs, 5,700 HCVs, 2,200 motorcycles and 600 buses to be sold, MTI noted.
