Report: EP accepts policy against tax offenses

Interview

The European Parliament voted in favor of implementing a more effective policy against money laundering, tax offenses and the financing of terrorism in the European Union, Gábor Fajcsák, tax manager at RSM DTM Hungary Tax and Financial Advisory Services Plc., wrote on his blog today.

According to Fajcsák, the European Parliament decided to set up a centralized public database that contains “real” information on business owners and that is accessible to anyone. The parliament also accepted a policy which will make it possible to follow the flow of finances within the European Union.

Fajcsák foresees the new policy providing a more effective control for the authorities.

EU member states have two years to insert the new money laundering policy into their own legislation, Fajcsák added.
