PSzÁF: HUF 36 billion in lender profits
Financial market regulator PSzÁF reported an after-tax profit of HUF 35.9 billion for Hungary-based lending institutions in the first half of 2013, though an overall loss was taken in the second quarter.
PSzÁF statistics released on Friday showed that lenders’ combined profit was HUF 79.4 billion in the first quarter, due primarily to “extraordinary performance” from an unnamed bank, but a HUF 43.5 loss in the second.
According to PSzÁF, branch banks and savings cooperatives showed an overall profit in the April-June period nevertheless.
