Pecsʼ Tettye waterworks protests GVH resolution

Tettye, the waterworks of the local council of Pécs, was reported today to have protested a resolution by the Competition Office (GVH) yesterday fining the waterworks HUF 1.3 mln on allegations of overcharging clients for water meter checks, Hungarian news agency MTI reported today.

GVH reportedly said that the waterworks companyʼs fees for services "deviated significantly from a level economically justified by costs and necessary to turn an honest profit".

According to Tettye, the competition office had scrutinized only a single element of its pricing policy and argued that it offers its customers a number of other discounts, saving them "several billion forints". In a statement, Tettye said that "since its establishment, Tettye has strived and continues to strive to ensure its customers the highest quality services at the lowest possible price."
