Over 2,600 individuals on tax authorityʼs blacklist

There were 2,671 private taxpayers and self-employed individuals owing more than HUF 10 million each in back taxes for at least 180 days at the end of the third quarter, figures from the National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) show, Hungarian news agency MTI reported today.

The NAV has also published a list of 2,176 companies owing more than HUF 100 mln in back taxes. Of these companies, 559 are still in operation, 715 have been struck off the register of companies, 51 are going through voluntary liquidation, and 811 through mandatory liquidation. 

The combined minimum amount of back taxes owed by all individuals and companies on the list is HUF 244.3 billion, but the actual figure is higher as some individuals owe more than HUF 100 mln and some companies owe back taxes of over HUF 1 bln.
