Ormánsági Zöldenergia to build new biogas plant
Hungarian energy firm Ormánsági Zöldenergia is planning to build a new biogas power plant in Vajszló in southwestern Hungary, with an investment of HUF 950 mln, Hungarian news agency MTI reported today.
The investment is supported with a HUF 625 mln European Union grant. The plant is scheduled to open in Q2 2015, and will have a capacity to generate 4.5 GWh of clean electricity, while also creating 4 new jobs, managing director Tibor Szabados told MTI.
The plant will use by-products and waste from local livestock farms as fuel to produce an annual 2.2 million cubic meters of biogas, substituting 0.71 million cubic meters of natural gas.
In line with projections, the electricity produced by the plant would be sold to MAVIR, while the heat energy will be used locally to heat greenhouses. The 18,700 cubic meters of biological manure produced each year will go to farmers and will replace artificial fertilizers.
