Nyíregyháza council lays cornerstone of HUF 4 bln hotel

The Nyíregyháza town council laid the cornerstone of a HUF 4 billion hotel near the cityʼs Sóstó spa yesterday, Hungarian news agency MTI reported.
The local council was awarded a HUF 3.1 billion government grant for the construction of the four-star hotel, and it will cover the remainder of the cost from its own resources and credit from OTP Bank.
The 122-room hotel, complete with restaurant, conference room and mini spa, is due to be completed in time for the start of next yearʼs tourist season.
The number of guest nights spent in Nyíregyháza (230 km east of Budapest) has doubled since 2010, said mayor Ferenc Kovács.
