National Development Ministry: Hungary's gas supply secure
Natural gas supplies are secure according to the statement made by the National Development Ministry on Friday, despite the havoc that Russian president Vladimir Putin’s letter caused. The Ministry ensured Hungary that there is enough gas sruplus in the storages.
Putin sent a letter to all the leaders of countries who are buyers of Russian natural gas. In his announcement, he describes the critical situation with Ukraine and its possible effects for European countries.
The ministry stated that Hungary's natural gas stores have already started preparing for next winter and are storing the surplus. Current gas reserves are sufficient to supply consumers for several months, and the statement also draw attention to the fact that Hungary can also count on alternative gas supply sources.
Minister of Foreign Affairs János Martonyi said that Hungary is ready for natural gas delivery to Ukraine as the technical background is given. According to MTI sources, the minister ensured Ukraine about supporting its regional unit.
