Hungarian oil and gas company MOL will increase crude oil production in the Tal Block in Pakistan by about 10,700 barrels of oil equivalent per day (BOE/D) to almost 90,000 BOE/D, MOL told Hungarian news agency MTI today.

MOL said the exploration well of Mardan Khel-1 in the Tal Block in northwest Pakistan in May 2015 was successful, and the group is increasing production as a result of connecting the well.

MOL also said it projects further results in this field in 2017.

MOL controls 8.4% of the Tal Block. MOL earlier said exploratory drilling at the Mardan Khel-1 well began in September 2014 and reached the targeted depth of 4,912 meters in February 2015.

Since 2000, MOL has found more than 400 million barrels of oil by exploring 13 independent fields in Pakistan.

Producing journalism that is worthy of the name is a costly business. For 27 years, the publishers, editors and reporters of the Budapest Business Journal have striven to bring you business news that works, information that you can trust, that is factual, accurate and presented without fear or favor.
