MGE: New car registrations up 32% in June

New car registrations rose 32% year-on-year, to 9,685, in June, the Hungarian Association of Vehicle Importers (MGE) said today, according to Hungarian news agency MTI.

In the first half of 2016, new car registrations rose 24% year-on-year to 45,959, MGE said. 

Sales of light commercial vehicles were up 28% at 1,859 in June and climbed 24% to 10,121 in the first half of the year, according to the report.

Sales are growing faster than expected, MGE noted, adding that it could raise its projection for full-year growth.

Other findings from MGE:

  • Sales of heavy commercial vehicles rose 20% to 499 in June and were up 3% at 2,632 in the first six months. 
  • Bus sales fell 20% to 32 in June and were up 9% at 224 in the first half.
  • Motorcycle sales rose 20% to 305 in June and were up 12% at 1,383 in January-June.
