GDP growth in Hungary could reach 3.5-4% in 2017, above even the governmentʼs own forecast, National Bank of Hungary Governor György Matolcsy said today at a meeting of the parliamentary Economic Committee, as reported by Hungarian news agency MTI.

For 2016 the National Bank of Hungary (MNB) stands by its forecast of economic growth reaching 3% of GDP, said Matolcsy.

The governor said that loose monetary policy would continue, but the MNB also considers the stability of the forint exchange rate important.

Matolcsy added that in 2015, in accordance with the central bank law, the MNB successfully ensured price stability, financial stability and support for the governmentʼs economic policy.
