Magyar Turizmus targets 1.6% rise in guest nights next year
Hungarian state tourism agency Magyar Turizmus aims to raise the number of guest nights at commercial accommodations by 1.6% in 2013, CEO Marianna Toth Dene said on Wednesday. Guest nights at commercial accommodations in Hungary rose 4.1% in January-September from the same period a year earlier, the latest data from the Central Statistics Office (KSH) shows. Toth Dene said state-owned companies have promoted Hungary independently until now. "In future, our aim is to combine our strengths to carry out a jointly based, unified promotion that points in a single direction," she added. Magyar Turizmus deputy-CEO Gergely Horvath said the agency was continuing to cooperate with Tourism Destination Management organisations. He added that the Hungarian Congress Office (MKI) expected the number of international conferences in Hungary to climb 2-4% in 2013.
