EU

Cabinet Chief János Lázár will meet with European Union Commissioner for Energy and Climate Action Miguel Arias Canete today in Brussels to discuss an upgrade of Hungaryʼs sole nuclear reactor, the European Commission announced yesterday, according to Hungarian news agency MTI.

The commissioner will also meet separately with Hungaryʼs state secretary for energy affairs András Aradszki to discuss the EUʼs Third Internal Energy Market package, according to EC spokesperson Anna-Kaisa Itkonen. Both meetings were initiated by the Hungarian side, she added. A fuel delivery contract related to the Paks upgrade has recently come under EU scrutiny.
