KSH: Spending by foreigners in Hungary rises by 11% in Q1

Spending by foreign visitors to Hungary rose to HUF 288 bln, 11% higher than in the first quarter a year earlier, according to a report by the Central Statistics Office (KSH).

Foreigners visiting for only a single day spent HUF 86 bln in total, up 5.9% from Q1 of 2014. Around 38% of them came to shop and 20% to work.


Of the visitors who stayed for several days, 90% were tourists, and spent HUF 203 bln, 14% more than in Q1 of 2014.


Austrian visitors spent the most in Hungary, HUF 41 bln, with Slovakian visitors spending HUF 29 bln, Germans spending HUF 25 bln and Americans HUF 22 bln, in Q1.
