KSH: Industrial production dips as auto production slows

Hungary’s industrial production dropped 4.6% in March as compared to the same month a year earlier, chiefly due to a 6.7% fall in the output of the automotive sector in the country, Hungary’s Central Statistical Office (KSH) said today in a second estimate of data.
According to the working-day adjusted index, the volume of production declined by 2.4% compared to the same month a year earlier, KSH data show. The volume of industrial production – according to seasonally and working-day adjusted indices – was below the level of the previous month by 1.1%, KSH added.
The volume of industrial export sales decreased by 4.8% compared to the same period of the previous year, while industrial domestic sales declined 4.7%, KSH said.
According to KSH, production declined in each of the three sectors of industry: by 4.4% in manufacturing representing a decisive weight (94%), 0.2% in energy (electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply) and 40% in mining and quarrying, which had little weight.
