KSH: Hungary’s farm gate prices up 0.4% in April

Hungary’s agricultural producer prices were up a slight 0.4% in April, as compared to the same month a year earlier, Hungary’s Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported today. 

The increase was consistent with a 4.2% rise in the prices of crop products, while the prices of live animals and animal products dropped by 6.2%, KSH added.

KSH data shows that the price of grains rose by 1.6% in April as compared to the same month a year earlier. Within that, the price of corn was up by 13%, the price of wheat dropped by 13%, KSH reported. 

The price of fruits was down by 3%, due to the procurement price of apples, since large quantities of these were sold for industrial purposes, KSH said.

The producer price level of live animals was down by 3.6% and that of animal products fell by 12%, in April. The price of milk was cut by 13%.

In the period of January-April, as compared to the same month a year earlier, farm gate prices were up by 1.4%, the prices of crop products rose by 5.6%, while the prices of live animals and animal products were reduced by 5.8%, KSH added.
