KSH: Hungary’s construction output dips 0.2% in November

The volume of construction output in Hungary was down 0.2% in November as compared to the same month a year earlier, while the output of the two main groups of construction – buildings and civil engineering works – reversed directions, Hungary’s Central Statistical Office KSH said.

KSH data shows that the construction volume of buildings grew by 10.2% and that of civil engineering works fell by 8.0% in November in year-on-year terms.

“Out of the divisions of construction, output grew by 6.7% in the construction of buildings and was down by 15.3% in the construction of civil engineering works compared to the high base a year earlier”, KSH reported. “Output rose by 10.4% in the division of specialized construction works, accounting for more than 40% of construction output”, KSH added.

In year-on-year terms, overall volume of new contracts was up by 14.7% in November, with the volume of new contracts expanding by 50.1% in the construction of buildings and shrinking by 11.9% in the construction of civil engineering works, according to KSH data.

In the period of January-November, construction output expanded by 2.8%, while based on seasonally and working day adjusted indices, construction output increased by 3.6% in November in month-on-month terms.
