KSH: Gross wages up 3.6% in June
Average gross wages in Hungary saw a year-on-year rise of 3.6%, reaching HUF 245,661 in June, with net wages rising at the same pace to HUF 160,909, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported today in a first reading of data.
Excluding the impact of fostered workers, who earned just HUF 79,925 in June, gross wages were up 4.7% at HUF 259,222, KSH noted. Fostered workers are employed by the government and paid less than minimum wage to work at jobs such as street sweepers or metro ticket takers.
KSH data suggest that full-time employees’ average gross nominal earnings, according to the national concept, amounted to HUF 243,200 at corporations employing at least five workers, and budgetary and designated non-profit institutions.
Average gross earnings were the highest in financial and insurance sectors, reaching HUF 501,000, and the lowest in human health and social work activities, at HUF 145,900, KSH said.
Average net earnings, with the exclusion of family tax benefits, were HUF 159,300 by national concept, the statistical office said. In 2015, the rules of family tax benefits changed only slightly, which had no considerable effect on the average index of net earnings, it added. At the same time, taking into account family tax benefits, average net income is estimated to be HUF 166,100, according to KSH.
Monthly average gross wages and salaries according to the SNA concept amounted to HUF 255,700, the office reported.
