Industrial producer prices in Hungary dropped by 2.8% in August on average, compared to the same month a year earlier, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported in a first reading of data today. Domestic sales prices dropped by 3.3% and export sales prices by 2.6% compared to a year earlier.

Within domestic sales prices, manufacturing prices were 2.4% lower, while prices of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, representing significant weight, were 6.0% lower than a year earlier as a long-term effect of a decrease in the world market prices of energy sources, the KSH said.

Within export sales prices, manufacturing prices were 2.2% lower, while prices of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, representing non-significant weight, were 13.5% lower, also due to a decrease in the world market prices of energy sources, according to the KSH data.

In the January–August period, domestic sales prices were cut by 4.1% and export sales prices by 1.0%, therefore industrial producer prices as a whole were 2.0% lower compared to the corresponding month a year earlier.
