In January 2019, the volume of industrial production grew by 4.4% year-on-year, according to a first estimate of data issued Thursday by the Central Statistical Office (KSH). Based on working day-adjusted data, output rose by 5.0% over the month.

The manufacturing sector made the biggest contribution to growth in January, the KSH said. The pace of growth slowed in the key automotive segment, as well as in the computer, electronics and optical equipment segment, but the increase in the food, drink and tobacco products segment was close to headline growth, it added.

Industrial output in January – according to seasonally and working day-adjusted indices – was 0.6% above the level of the previous month.

A second, more detailed estimate of industrial production in January will be published by the KSH on March 13.
