In the first half of the year, output by Hungarian brick producers increased by approximately 50% compared to the corresponding period a year earlier, Hungarian daily Magyar Idők reported today.

While brick and tile producers still have unused capacity, demand is foreseen to rise further due to the expected boost in subsidies available for home purchases by families, Aladár Kátó, head of the Hungarian Brick Association (Matesz), told the paper.

This year, 13,000–14,000 homes may be built in Hungary, nearly double the number last year, while the number of new homes could reach 20,000–21,000 by next year, Hungarian news agency MTI reported.
