Hungary and the Austrian state of Styria have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on developing and testing electric and self-driving vehicles, the Ministry for Innovation and Technology said on Friday, Hungarian news agency MTI reported.

The agreement was signed by Minister for Innovation and Technology László Palkovics and Barbara Eibinger-Miedl, representing the Austrian state of Styria.

The MoU strengthens cooperation between Zala County (W Hungary) and Styria, and invites the neighboring region of Maribor, in Slovenia, to join the project, which could produce a regional knowledge center.

Hungaryʼs government is building a HUF 45 billion test track for self-driving vehicles in Zala County.
