Competition

Hungarian farm minister Sándor Fazekas and United States ambassador to Hungary Colleen Bell discussed the proposed Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) free trade agreement between the U.S. and the European Union at a meeting on Friday, the ministry said, according to news agency MTI.

Both sides felt the agreement was in order, however, Fazekas expressed concerns regarding the use of genetically modified organisms and was keen to find ways in which Hungaryʼs farm sector could be kept GMO-free. Ambassador Bell said the U.S. respected Hungaryʼs stand on the matter and stressed the importance of transparency throughout negotiations, the ministry added.
