Hungary Europe’s 7th largest bicycle manufacturer
Hungarian firms manufacture nearly 400,000 bicycles a year, of which some 220,000 are sold domestically, with the rest going for export, business news portal tozsdeforum.hu reported, citing data from the Hungarian Association of Bicycle Makers and Sellers (MKKSZ).
As the seventh-largest maker of bicycles in Europe, Hungary generates 3% of total bicycle production on the continent.
MKKSZ data show that Hungarians pay on average HUF 80,000 for a bicycle, although association members generally distribute higher-priced products.
Following trends in Europe, a new driving force for the domestic industry could be electric, pedal-assisted bikes, so-called pedelecs, tozsdeforum.hu added.
