Hungarians’ personal income up almost 7%, tax office data show

Hungarians’ʼ personal income rose 6.7% to HUF 10.065 billion last year, data from the National Tax and Customs Authority (NAV) shows, Hungarian news agency MTI reported today. About HUF 9.25 trillion of the income was from wages and salary.

About 4,166,000 of the 4,625,000 Hungarians who filed personal income tax returns had to pay tax, and did so at an average of HUF 369,000 per person. 

Some 3,991,000 reported income from labor. They earned on average HUF 2,318,000 per year, or a monthly HUF 193,000. The highest average monthly income from labor was HUF 254,625, in the capital. The lowest was HUF 147,665, in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County, in the northeast of the county.
