Hungarian-Mexican Business Forum Council meets in Mexico City

Interview

Hungaryʼs state secretary for economic diplomacy Levente Magyar co-chaired a meeting of the Hungarian-Mexican Business Forum Council in Mexico City today, Magyar told Hungarian news agency MTI on the phone.

Magyar noted that ProMexico was being encouraged to set up an office in Budapest to represent Mexico in all of the Visegrad Four countries: Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland.

According to Magyar, Mexico is among Hungaryʼs most important economic partners in the region. The state secretary said that bilateral trade between the two countries had grown by a factor of ten in the last decade to about $1 bln a year. Fostering cooperation could bring more Mexican producers to Hungary and pave the way for Hungarian companies in the farm, water management and electronics sectors to do business in Mexico, he added.

MTI reported that the state secretary met with deputy foreign minister Carlos de Icaza Gonzalez, deputy minister for foreign trade Francisco de Rosenzweig Mendialdua, director of trade and investment agency ProMexico Francisco Gonzalez Diaz, deputy head of the Mexican Business Council for Trade and Development (COMCE) Jorge Lopez Morton, and deputy director of the national water commission CONAGUA Emiliano Rodriguez Briceno.
