GVH fines waterworks on allegation of overcharging

Hungaryʼs Competition Office (GVH) fined local council-owned waterworks Tettye for HUF 1.3 mln on allegations of overcharging clients for water meter checks, the company said today, according to Hungarian news agency MTI.

According to the competition office, the waterworks companyʼs fees for services "deviated significantly from a level economically justified by costs and necessary to turn an honest profit".

News agency MTI reported that GVH ordered Tettye to cease the practice. Tettye is owned by the local council of Pécs in southwestern Hungary.
