Főgáz submits only offer for E.ON, GDF Suez retail gas customers

Competition

A single offer, by state-owned Főgáz, has been made to take over the retail customers of the local gas units of Germanyʼs E.ON and Franceʼs GDF Suez, Hungarian Energy and Utilities Regulatory Office (MEKH) told Hungarian news agency MTI late Friday.

The E.ON and GDF Suez units earlier requested the withdrawal of their "universal service provider" licenses to supply gas to households.

Universal service providers supply gas using a price structure and level controlled by the state.

MEKH will evaluate Főgázʼs offer within five working days.

Főgáz is the bridgehead onto the gas market of the First National Utilities Company (ENKSZ), recently established by the state to act as an efficient, predictable and cheap utilities provider.
