Net FDI into Bulgaria halves in 2020

The net inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI) into Bulgaria decreased by 50.7% on the year to EUR 561.7 million in 2020, the country's central bank said last week.

The net FDI inflow last year calculated according to the directional principle, was equal to 0.9% of Bulgaria's 2020 projected gross domestic product (GDP), the Bulgarian National Bank said in a statement, citing preliminary data.

The largest net FDI inflow into Bulgaria in 2020, of EUR 303.1 million, came from Austria. Germany and Switzerland followed with EUR 294.5 million and EUR 207.2 million euro, respectively.
