Deficit on external trade in goods up in August

The deficit on external trade in goods amounted to EUR 467 million in August, with the value of imports rising faster than that of exports, according to data by the Central Statistical Office (KSH).
The value of exports was 5.2% and that of imports 16% larger in EUR terms in August 2021 than in the same period of the previous year. The value of exports amounted to EUR 8.404 billion and that of imports to EUR 8.871 bln.
The share of EU-27 Member States was 75% in exports and 68% in imports.
The balance of external trade in goods deteriorated by EUR 811 million compared to the same period of 2020.
Compared to July 2021, the value of exports became 12% and that of imports 9.1% lower.
The EUR value of exports was 3.9% and that of imports 9.9% higher than in August 2019.
