Surplus in goods trade EUR 677 mln in March

In euro terms, exports increased by 4.9% and imports by 5.6% in March compared to the same month of the previous year, with the surplus on external trade in goods diminishing by EUR 21 million, shows a first release of data from the Central Statistical Office (KSH).
In March 2019, the value of exports came to EUR 9.674 billion, and that of imports to EUR 8.996 bln. The surplus on external trade in goods was thus EUR 677 mln.
The share of European Union member states was 82% in exports and 75% in imports.
In the first three months of 2019, exports were up 5.9% annually at EUR 27.737 bln, while imports rose 7.5% to EUR 25.851 bln.
The trade surplus in the first quarter of the year was EUR 1.886 bln, down by EUR 260 mln from the corresponding period of last year.
The KSH will publish a second reading of the March data on May 31.
