Number of bank cards in Hungary reaches 8,764,000

There were 8,764,000 bank cards in Hungary at the end of June, down about 7,000 from the end of March, business daily Napi Gazdaság said on Tuesday, citing data from the National Bank of Hungary. 

There were 1,221,000 credit cards and 7,543,000 debit cards at the end of June. Chip cards accounted for 78% of the total, up from 53% twelve months earlier. There were 78,992 point-of-sale terminals in Hungary at the end of June, up 2,786 from three months earlier.
