National Bank declines to comment on euro intervention speculation

The National Bank of Hungary (MNB) declined to comment on Wednesday when asked about a report that it intervened on markets to keep the HUF/EUR exchange rate under 275 forints.

Just as in the past, the MNB now too does not wish to comment on questions related to foreign exchange market transactions, the central bank said.

Dow Jones reported earlier the MNB intervened to keep the HUF/EUR rate under 275, citing an analyst with Raiffeisen Bank.

The forint traded at 273.90 to the euro around noon on Wednesday, firming from 275.80 late Tuesday.
