The National Bank of Hungary (MNB) will pay a HUF 50 bln dividend from last yearʼs earnings into the budget, the central bank told Hungarian news agency MTI today, confirming a comment by governor György Matolcsy published in daily Magyar Nemzet.
The board decided on the dividend proposal at a meeting on April 27.
The MNB said the dividend will reduce the deficit by the equivalent of 0.15% of GDP.
The central bank last paid a dividend in 2002.
